Nothing is ever wasted by a Textile Designer! I’m such a hoarder (only of useful things, promise?!) Whenever I’m working, I usually make cards out of the tape I’ve used to mask paintings and stencils are usually as nice as the image they create!

Pen & Wash
I love the purples that ooze out of certain ink pens when their marks are drenched in water. This is a great technique for drawings, providing you don’t want to be too neat!
Flowery Photo Shoot
I’ve been on a very fun photo shoot today with loads of flowers and cake! It’s been such a beautiful sunny day too. The balcony door was open in the studio and the sun was streaming in. It almost felt summery?? I came away with some gorgeous flowers though. I wish they lasted longer! I think bright pink and turquoise has to be one of my favourite colour combinations!
Linear Leaves
As soon as I’ve found lots of images at the beginning of a project, I draw draw draw! Initially, my sketchbooks are full of photos and drawings so that I have plenty of images to reference. Here is a selection of some of my drawings from the beginning of a nature project. I keep them very simple to begin with.
Stripy Coastlines
The best thing about Northumberland is definitely the beautiful beaches. I had a nice wander along a few of my favourite ones while I was at home last week. There’s so many layers of colours and textures on the coast. Natural stripes are everywhere!
