I love the purples that ooze out of certain ink pens when their marks are drenched in water. This is a great technique for drawings, providing you don’t want to be too neat!

Linear Leaves
As soon as I’ve found lots of images at the beginning of a project, I draw draw draw! Initially, my sketchbooks are full of photos and drawings so that I have plenty of images to reference. Here is a selection of some of my drawings from the beginning of a nature project. I keep them very simple to begin with.
Crazy Circles
I was looking through some of my textiles sketchbooks while I was home. You know when you get sick of looking at work? Leave it for a while then have another peak. I love all my little experiments now. Here’s a few of them and there’s plenty more on their way!
Stripy Coastlines
The best thing about Northumberland is definitely the beautiful beaches. I had a nice wander along a few of my favourite ones while I was at home last week. There’s so many layers of colours and textures on the coast. Natural stripes are everywhere!
Layered Lovelyness
I was looking through some of my previous projects and found some gorgeous layered pictures I’ve created. They’re inspired by the coast, India and mark-making. I’ve put them together using photos, magazines, newspapers, paint, acetate, tissue paper, charcoal, anything that worked, really! Which is your favourite?
